BURLESQUE COSTUME SKILLS
Learn methods of improving your costume, through construction. A variety of methods will be taught to enhance the practical aspects of a costume, especially various fastening and unfastening techniques. Please bring your outfits, ideas or questions and receive professional assistance. (Some sewing ability is recommended)Tutor: Selina Nightingale
Selina Nightingale has been a costume maker for over ten years, working mainly in theatre and dance. She recently supervised the costume making for the London 2012 Handover Ceremony at the Beijing Olympics and Para-olympics. Based in Leeds, she has worked at West Yorkshire Playhouse and Northern School of Contemporary Dance and made costumes for Kylie Minogue's dancers, Northern Ballet Theatre and Phoenix Dance. Her contempory dance work has included working with Yolande Snaith, Kim Brandstrup, Rafael Bonachela, Hofesh Shechter and Javier De Frutos. She is also passionate about skill sharing and runs various workshops in costume design and making.
